Thailand

Yay I shall finally start blogging about my trip to Thailand.
I just came back a couple of days ago.
It was great! The first time I've been on a holiday that's not with family and not with school.
Okay technically there's family cos there's my sis but that's not really counted is it?
First day
We arrived in bangkok at about 6 i think. Then we got a taxi to our hotel (New World Lodge Hotel) that we later found out cost us a bomb. Apparently cos its bigger but actually there wasnn't much difference. Oh wells.
Then we checked in and found out that the hotel was tucked in the inner depths of Bangkok, in some street that's quite deserted. But the room was nice and pretty spacious.
Me, my sis and Azlina shared one room while Carol and Dominic shared the other room (no, they're not a couple).
After that we went out for dinner somewhere near our hotel. It was this little eating place that ripped us off with their chicken tikka. It was actually just a pathetic barbequed chicken leg that wasn't even cooked properly. But the vegetables were good, yum yum.
Then I can't remember what we did after that. Must have walked around a bit then gone back to the hotel for a shut-eye.

Second day
We packed our stuffs then got ready to venture off to Pattaya. We took a taxi to the bus terminal then a bus ride to Pattaya which was surprisingly short.
Our hotel was called Beverly Plaza Hotel and this one was quite central. They had a swimming pool which will become the highlight later on. Haha.
The room was a little smaller and to our amazement, they only had one control for the aircon! So we couldn't adjust the temperature whenever we wanted, we actually had to call housekeeping to ask them to modify the temperature. How weird is that? "Wait 20 minute then cold.."
Okay then it was time for lunch. Where did we have lunch? Oh yeah, it was at KFC.
Since me my sis and Azi needed halal food we had to settle for fast food in the end cos everywhere else was selling pork. It was pretty good, but we discovered that the beach was quite disappointing. It was dirty and small and over-populated. Hehe. So no beach sports in the end.
However, we did quite a bit of shopping along the streets of Pattaya. It was mainly lingerie shopping. And poor Dominic was sitting in one corner with nothing better to do. We took a great shot of him sitting forlornly in one corner. Haha. Oh yeah, and we also bought slippers, cheap slippers. Then again, everything was cheap.
Okay then after shopping back to the hotel for a bit of drinking. Oh, not us of course, but Carole and Dominic.
Carole got a little drunk but apparently there were major effects on her. Lol. Dominic, who was sharing the same room with her, got scared and moved to the opposite corner of the room.
That was amusing and weird at the same time.
C was going crazy, delirious, and she was laughing at everything. She wanted to do yoga too, but well, Dominic stopped her. Poor guy. Haha.
Okay after that VERY eventful night, it was back to our rooms for a good night's rest.

Third day
Lala, I'm getting lazy. So shall summarise everything.
What did we do on third day? Oh nothhing much as I recall. We woke up and lazed around after breakfast in front of the tv watching Cocktail with Tom Cruise as the star. He was kissing and sleeping with so many girls. But he's so cute, who can resist him rite? :)
Then after staring at the guidebooks and maps for a while, we finally decided to go to the Ripleys Believe it or Not museum. It was so cool! There was the 4D movie, the museum itself, the Infinity Maze and finally the Haunted Adventure.
I think the haunted one was the most memorable, with Dominic in the lead and trying to punch out any potential ghosts. Lol, I'm glad he didn't get anyone or we would have been possibly slapped with a lawsuit. It was nerve-wrecking and funny at the same time, I didn't know whether to laugh or to scream. The guy with the chainsaw was the one that scared me the most cos I was at the back and he was coming after me. With a chainsaw that sounded amazingly real. Then after that we took pictures with the ghosts.
It was really funny cos we were actually CHOOSING our ghosts. Haha.
And then the person told us that one of the ghosts was using the toilet. HAHAHA! Oh my god, how lame is that.
So in the end we just called two of the ghosts at the counter to come take shots with us.
That was a good one, I think we all had a great time at the museum.
After that according to kakak, she got sick. THen we went back to the hotel to rest.
Azi and Carole wanted to go for a swim but in the end we decided to go have dinner first.
We walked around a bit and found this Middle Eastern place to eat. The food was great! I think that was our best meal while we were there, other than the room service which we had later on. This time there was REAL chicken tikka. There was also tom yum soup of course, and some lamb meat thing. We also had vegetable soup. All in all I enjoyed that meal.
Then we walked around a bit and came across Boys Town and some other sleazy places.
There was this red light area where Dominic was hugely popular. All the girls were calling out to him. That was so funny. It was cool witnessing the night life there.
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that there were Caucasian men with Thai girls everywhere we went. The place was a sleaze fest. And it must be awkward with these couples cos they just sit staring at each other, not saying anything, hardly communicating.
Oh right then we went back to the hotel and we were all looking forward to seeing Carole in her bikini (especially Dominic of course) but to our dsappointment, the pool was closed.
Awww. So sad.
So went back, bathed and slept. Oh and I think we watched Mean Girls or something.
And I stayed awake to watch Beauty Shop.
Yay, that hotel had good movies. I like. (:

Fourth day
We packed up once again and left Pattaya.
We had a little trouble with the taxi fares at first but in the end everything was settled.
We were back at New World Lodge Hotel. We checked in of course, then went to Prattunam.
Prattunam is this shopping area. We went there via skytrain.
We went into MBK (Ma Boon Khong) centre for shopping. It was alright I guess.
I bought 3 pretty pillows! yay. the colours are delightful. I love them. The purple one's for my aunty. She'll be delighted i think.
Then at night we went to Patpong while kakak stayed in the hotel cos she was sick.
Poor thing.
We went to the market there and met this funny aunty. She kept referring to herself as "Mummy" and went like "mummy try for you". Haha.
She tried to matchmake me too. She asked me how old I was and when I told her, she was like telling me that her son is 24 and working in another shop or something.
Haha. Mummy likes me for some reason. So funny. ((:
After patpong we went back and hmm what did we do? Nothing much I think.
Wait wait i think something is messed up. We didn't go to patpong on the fourth day, i think that was on the third day.
On the fourth day we went for a massage while Carole rebonded her hair!
Agrrhhh my mind is broken into fragments. Nevermind lah im too lazy to change it all now.
So we went for a massage at this posh looking place and while they all went for oil body massage i went for a foot massage.
The foot massage was like foot AND leg massage. It was really nice. Some points it was ticklish but i controlled myself. Haha. Then at the end, surprisingly, she massaged my neck and head as well. How lovely. There was tea as well. The ambience of the place was nice, dark and soothing music in the background. I want to go again! *pouts*
Fifth day
We were all set for this trip from the start. Especially Azi.
We were off to the Chatuchak market which was HUGE. And i mean really huge cos u need to use a map to find your way around or else you'd just find yourself lost amongst things that you don't want like plants and pets accessories.
It's a shopping haven for people who want cheap goods and don't mind the stuffiness.
We bought lots of stuffs there, including a nice black shirt and a pretty diary for me.
Oh and we saw these 20 baht earrings and went for it. Yeah! It was vulture time.
I found two pretty ones and bought them while azi and carole bought three or four each i think.
Yeah.
Dominic's shopping was mainly for t-shirts and dvds.
Oh yeah i fogot to add that i bought cds too. From one of those shopping places.
Simple Plan and Green Day. Yay. I've wanted those albums for a long time.
I thinkwe got it from Patpong. Carole got Shakira and Destiny's Child. We plan to swap.
Yeah so after Chatuchak we went back to hotel. Everyone was burned out.
The three of us ordered room service.
THat's when we tried the delicious fried banana ice cream! Mmmm. yum. I want to eat that again.
And the sweet and sour fish was really good too.
After that kakak stayed in the room while we all went to Khao San Road. Dominic and Carole ate dinner while we talked about intellectual stuffs. Like the working world.
Then we went to find Birkenstock slippers (again) for Azi. Haha. We nicknamed her the Birks girl because every shopping place we went she was hunting for those.
It was so funny.
Then just after she bought that, it started to rain.
First time we were experiencing Thai rain! So we huddled in the shelter for a while until the rain stopped.
A cute ang moh guy passed by us and when he caught me smiling at him, he raised his arms in a "Woohoo!" Haha. He was all wet. Aww, too bad I didn't get to talk to him. Hee.
Then after that we made our way back to the hotel and despite all our plans to party the night away since it was the last night, we fell asleep. We were exhausted.
Sixth day
Time to go home! It was our last day in the hotel and we had breakfast first.
Oh yeah there was a new tradition that after breakfast would be time to 'bomb'. Haha. private joke.
Then we packed all our stuffs and left for the airport. We found out that we got ripped off by the taxi driver when we reached the airport later. Oh well, nevermind.
Oh my gosh! I almost forgot. We went to the floating market on the, err, 4thday i think. See my mind is not working in sequence again.
Okay actually we just took the Chao Phraya River Express which was a boat ride. We were told that there would be a floating market but there ended up being only a few boats. Sigh. And we we were supposed to feed the fishes but ended up looking at them from afar. Haha.
Then the guy who was driving us just dropped us off at some random market when we complained to him that we were not getting what we paid for.
The market just sold fruits and vegetables! Lol. Azi bought oranges.
Then we went back on the boat and on to Prattunam.
Ya, so back to 6th day, where was i?
Yeah we met at the airport then took our plane!
Yay, mixed feelings when we arrived back in SIngapore. Happy but sad.
Then we ate lunch at the airport.
Me and sis had chicken rice while Azi had soto ayam.
Then cabbed home.
So that was that then.
K actually there's a lot more details but I'm too lazy to type anymore. So I'm publishing this for now.
